The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree

Shop the Giving Tree Catalog online to give a gift to Family Promise in honor of a loved one. Or invite our Giving Tree to your church or business  for a visit.  It displays opportunities to contribute for every day, humdrum expenses that are incurred when serving our families, such as a tire for the van or paper for the printer.  People can select an envelope from the tree for the amount they would like to contribute, replace the enclosed card with their contribution, and slide the envelope into a locked box at the base of the tree.

Or just make a plain donation.  Every little bit is so appreciated!

Taste of Hope Gala was Wed. Sept. 21 – THANK YOU!

Taste of Hope Gala 2016 on Sept 21 at Crowne Plaza Reading

TASTE OF HOPE is an annual fundraiser that provides critical operating funds for our program, especially for replacing our worn out 15 passenger van!  We celebrated the many years of success in lifting Berks County families out of the unimaginable circumstance of homelessness, and teaching them how not to be homeless again.

THANK YOU to those who attended and generously supported our mission.  Over $10,000 was raised toward a newer van, as well as funds for operating expenses.  We are now looking for that newer 15-passenger van, so if you know of one, please let us know!

Family Promise said:  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Family Promise has been serving homeless families in Berks County since 2006!  Thanks to the many communities of faith that regularly share their facilities and the volunteers who are willing to share their gifts of time and treasure by serving as overnight hosts and providing meals and hospitality to our guests, we have offered hope to many families and strengthened our community.

We had a wonderful Pastor and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in the picnic pavilion at Schwarzwald Lutheran Church on a lovely June morning. About 100 folks who have volunteered with Family Promise over the years attended. We shared stories and statistics that helped remind us that this is important work we are doing together!  We are making a difference in the lives of the families we touch.  Some coordinators and pastors shared how this program has made a difference to them and their sense of ministry. Five of our graduate and current families shared their stories. One former guest said she did not know what a family was supposed to be like until she experienced the respect and caring of the many volunteers. Another former guest is soon ready to graduate from Bloomsburg. Another family is finally able to have all their children living together in their own place. It was inspiring to hear of their successes! We thank God for all of the volunteers that make this success possible!
