About Us

WHO WE ARE

Family Promise of Berks County is in the heart of downtown Reading, Pennsylvania. Our organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and affiliate of Family Promise National. We partner with local communities and networks of volunteers to provide services to homeless families, youth and individuals facing a housing crisis. Our doors opened in July of 2006 and we have been graciously serving communities in need ever since. We are one of over 200 Affiliates of the national Family Promise organization. Current programs focus on rapid rehousing, homelessness prevention, mediation, advocacy and emergency assistance.

Our unique model recognizes that maintaining family units increases successful outcomes. The latter allows for couples and single parent households to remain with their children while being sheltered versus being separated by gender.

Our door is always open! Get to know us, follow our work and stop by to see how you can lend a helping hand.

STATEMENT ON EQUALITY AND NON-DISCRIMINATION

Family Promise serves families of all compositions. We welcome everyone in the community to be part of the solution to empower families experiencing homelessness and ultimately retain and regain the safety, security, and opportunity that comes with having a home.

STATEMENT ON RACISM

It is impossible to separate systemic and structural racism from the reality that people of color, and Black people in particular, are disproportionately affected by homelessness and poverty. Family Promise is committed to being an anti-racist organization. We will educate and engage ourselves, our stakeholders, and the community to work towards overcoming racism, so that race no longer defines who has housing.
