TASTE OF HOPE Gala

PRESENTING
Home Sweet Homelessness

Please join Family Promise of Berks at the Taste of Hope Gala for an interactive experience of Home Sweet Homelessness, an eye-opener to anyone who wishes to understand more about the realities of poverty, homelessness, and the issues our community faces.

Taste of Hope is an annual fundraiser that provides critical operating funds for programming. We are celebrating many years of success in lifting Berks County families and youth out of the unimaginable circumstance of homelessness. Over 85% of the 500 individuals served in 2018 transitioned and remained in permanent housing.

Our work is made possible by the contributions of compassionate individuals who are dedicated to making a difference in their community and value serving the most vulnerable among us.

The evening includes an open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres stations, live music, testimonials, silent auctions and chances to give back. Your presence is requested for an evening of celebration and learning at the Doubletree – 701 Penn Street Reading, PA September 25, 2018 5-8:30 pm.

Family & youth homelessness continues to be a growing problem in Berks County. Local shelters & housing programs remain at full capacity on an ongoing basis. Limited resources persist for families with children & homeless youth.

2,279 students in Berks County were homeless during the 2017-18 school year, an increase from 2016-17 totals of 1,546 students; nearly 300 of those students are unaccompanied homeless youth (PA Dep. of Ed).

Founded in 2006, Family Promise of Berks County offers sustainable pathways to end family & youth homelessness. We believe in keeping families together & youth off the streets while providing hope, a new beginning & opportunities for change.

Our mission to help families & youth experiencing homelessness achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response is made possible through the help of caring individuals who invest in our programs. We mobilize a wide network of volunteers to help us deliver shelter, permanent housing and supportive services for a
fraction of the cost of traditional models.
